Softball Spotlight: Kinzie Hansen
We are almost done with the softball spotlight mini series. Up next is the catcher for the defending national champions, Kinzie Hansen. She finished the year with a .438 batting average and was a steady contributor at the plate all season long. Hansen had 78 hits with 68 RBI’s in 2021 while getting the bulk of the load at catcher.
Honors And WCWS
As a result of her work in the Women’s College World Series, she was selected to the 2021 WCWS All- Tournament team, and earned a spot on team USA for the upcoming world games. Hansen was named First Team All Central Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) as well as being named a 2021 NFCA Second Team All-American, and the Big 12 Tournament Most Outstanding Player. But wait, there’s more.
Hansen was a 2021 Big 12 All-Tournament Team selection and All-Academic First Team honoree. She played almost every single minute of the WCWS getting a break in the championship game due to the extreme heat. In softball, players can leave the game and come back in. She braved the intense elements and was one of the reasons why the Sooners were so successful. Long story short, she’s a really good player and she’s not done yet.
